description: The European Urban Biodiversity Index (EUBI) is an aggregated indicator for biodiversity in urban regions. These regions are identified by the Functional Urban Areas (FUA) and are further subdivided by a 10ha hexagonal grid. For each grid cell, the EUBI provides a geometric average of eight normalized indicators which represent different components of biodiversity such as habitat structure and species richness. The EUBI is constructed from publicly available remote sensing products and species as well as habitat data. It makes us of the Copernicus Urban Atlas (UA) and Imperviousness density (IMD) layers as well as geospatial dataset provided by the Water Information System for Europe (WISE) and within the reporting obligations for Art. 12 and 17.
